The Edon Banking Company was established in January 1893 as a co-partnership consisting of Oscar Eaton, Will W. Morrison, Theodore S. Carvin and I.E. Gardner. Oscar Eaton was president; I.E. Gardner, vice president; and Theodore S. Carvin, cashier. The bank was incorporated in 1911 as The Edon State Bank Company of Edon, Ohio.
Assets of The Farmers National Bank of Edon, Ohio were purchased on April 24, 1928, and on or about April 25, 1928, the bank moved its banking quarters from the southeast corner of the square to the northwest corner, into the building housing the banking quarters of the former Farmers National Bank of Edon, Ohio. The quarters were remodeled and expanded in 1960, and again in 1970 to 1971.
The Edon State Bank established its Edon Drive-up Facility in 1981. That same year, the Blakeslee Banking Center was opened. The Edon Office was remodeled in 1992 and again in 2003.
The Edon State Bank remains locally owned and operated, the only independent bank remaining in Williams County.
